A driver under the influence of drugs drove through the Fairfax City police headquarters early Thursday morning, doing about $10,000 worth of damage before fleeing the scene, police said.

The man approached the headquarters on Old Lee Highway in his Mercury Marquis and drove through the lowered door of the garage and processing area of the station around 2 a.m., police said.

The doors sustained considerable damage, but no one was injured in the incident, police said. The driver then left the scene.

A short time later, officers responded to the report of an accident near

University Drive and Willard Way and found the Mercury stopped on top of a median in a private parking lot, police said.

The officers determined the driver was responsible for the damage to police headquarters and placed the driver under arrest, police said.

Anthony John Skrobackz, 49, of Spotsylvania, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, reckless driving and hit and run.
