COLUMBIA, Md. — Howard County police say an officer shot and killed a man who was wanted in a domestic assault.
Percy Holland, 32, of Baltimore, was shot Thursday evening outside a residence in Columbia after police say he refused repeated commands to show his hands, police said. They said he also told officers: “You’re going to have to kill me or I’m going to kill you.”
Police said Holland was wanted in Baltimore for an assault on his estranged girlfriend. According to a warrant, the man broke into the woman’s home early Thursday morning and held a gun to her head. After several hours, the woman escaped and called 911.
Police say the man fled with the couple’s 2-year-old child. Baltimore police later confirmed he was at the Columbia home and called in Howard County police for help.
The child was found unharmed at a relative’s house, police said.
