Police identify fourth victim of Route 50 wrong-way crash

Police have identified the fourth victim of a car crash on Route 50 that claimed the lives of three teenagers who were traveling in the wrong direction on Route 50 in Anne Arundel County early Saturday morning and hit an oncoming car.

Maryland State Police said Terry Wayne Davis, 55, of Severna Park, the driver of the car that was driving in the correct direction, died as he was being taken to the hospital.

About 3:30 a.m. Saturday, a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on Route 50 east struck another vehicle head-on one mile east of Davidsonville Road, causing one of the vehicles to catch fire briefly, according to Maryland State Police.

The vehicle going the wrong way was carrying Breanna Marie Franco, 18; Brittany Ann Walker, 19; and Zachary Tyler Rose, 18. Walker, who is from Hanover, was the driver, police said. Davis was driving the vehicle that the teenagers’ car hit.

Police said several calls were received about a vehicle going the wrong way on Interstate 97 and Route 50, but they have not confirmed that it was the same vehicle that was found to be involved in the crash. Police are investigating how the vehicle ended up in the wrong direction.

The crash closed Route 50 east for about four hours Saturday morning.
