Police impersonation charge for Maryland man in Annapolis incident

An Odenton man has been charged with impersonating a police officer after incidents in which he allegedly showed a badge to several people and asked one to take a field sobriety test.

Anne Arundel County Police said they were called to the parking lot of a Buffalo Wild Wings restaurant in Annapolis shortly before 11 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers were told that a man in the parking lot showed a badge and claimed to be an undercover detective.

In one case, police said, he had someone perform a field sobriety test. In another incident, the man requested identification from two other people police said drove away and called police.

Responding officers found Mark E. Elmer, 31, of Odenton, and charged him with impersonating a police officer and disorderly conduct.
