Police investigate overnight stabbings, shooting in Northeast D.C.

D.C. police are investigating two separate overnight incidents, a shooting and a stabbing, in Northeast Washington.

Two women and one child were stabbed at approximately 1 a.m. in the 300 block of 51st Street NE, police said.

Police said the victims were conscious and breathing when they were transported to a local hospital for treatment. All three are expected to recover.

Police have not released the identities of the women or the name or age of the child.

Minutes later, police responded to the report of shots fired in the 2000 block of C Street NE, about three miles away. There, they found a man in his 50s who had been shot in the chest.

The victim, who has not been identified, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

No suspects have been identified in either case and both incidents remain under investigation, police said. Police said the two incidents do not appear to be connected.
