Police: Man took 13-year-old girl to Philadelphia to start ‘new life’

A Colorado man has been charged after allegedly taking a 13-year-old Fairfax County girl he met online to Philadelphia to start a “new life” together with her, according to police and a search warrant.

Detectives believe Chan Park, 19, drove cross-country to pick the girl up from her home on Feb. 12 and the pair spent several nights in Philadelphia hotels, where they took showers together and had sex, according to the search warrant filed in Fairfax County Circuit Court.

The two initially met in a chat room called “teen chat” during the fall of 2011 and corresponded via chat programs, social media sites and e-mail, according to the search warrant.

Park had sexual conversations with the girl and told her what sex acts he wanted to perform on her, according to the search warrant. On at least one occasion, he exposed himself to the girl via a webcam and she sent him images of herself, including one in her underwear, according to the search warrant.

On Feb. 17, Park and the girl walked into Fairfax City police headquarters and Park was arrested, Fairfax County police said. Park was charged with online solicitation of minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, police said.

Fairfax County police obtained a search warrant to look analyze Park’s laptop computer, which he used during the trip.
