A Silver Spring man was charged with attempted first-degree murder after allegedly firing shots from his home Saturday night, according to the Montgomery County police.
The incident began around 10:40 p.m. after neighbors in the 500 block of East Melbourne Avenue reported hearing gunfire. When police approached the home of Carlos Alexander Hernazdez, 31, officers saw him firing a weapon from inside the house, police said.
Two officers then fired on Hernandez, police said. No one was injured during the incident.
Officers then began communicating with Hernandez and discovered his 8-year-old son was inside the home, authorities said.
After negotiating with police, Hernandez surrendered around 2:15 a.m. on Sunday. Hernandez is also facing a reckless endangerment charge and is being held without bond, according to police.
As is standard procedure, the two officers that opened fire have been placed on administrative leave while the incident is investigated, authorities said.
