Police recover car taken after shop owner’s killing

Prince George’s County police have recovered the Audi A6 they say was taken this week during the fatal shooting of a Landover auto body shop owner, authorities said Thursday.

The car, which was stolen after Monday’s slaying of 48-year-old Keith Watson, was abandoned in the 300 block of Hillside Terrace in Landover, police said. They credited a Crime Solvers tip with helping detectives locate the car.

Police still have no suspects in the killing itself, which occurred about 1 p.m. Monday inside Watson’s auto body shop, V&W Auto Body, in the 8500 block of Rainswood Drive in Landover. Law enforcement officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they could be disciplined for discussing a current case, said detectives are not certain that stealing the car was the primary motive for the killing. Police are investigating other possibilities, the officials said.
