Fairfax County police have released surveillance photos of a possible suspect in an assault on a 16-year-old girl that occurred as she walked home from a Fairfax City school Monday afternoon.

The possible suspect is believed to be a man between 20 and 40, thin and around 170 pounds, police said. He may have been driving an early 2000s model Honda Accord that is white and has four doors.

The girl had just entered a wooded path at the end of Pickett Road near W.T. Woodson High School when a man approached her from behind, grabbed her neck and assaulted her, police said.

The girl was knocked to the ground in an ensuing struggle and the man fled, police said. The girl screamed and went to a nearby house for help, police said. The attack occurred around 4 p.m. on Monday.
