Police release video of possible D.C. slaying suspect

Police have released a video of a possible suspect in last week’s slaying of a 61-year-old man who was found unconscious on a street in Northeast D.C.

The man is shown inside what appears to be a carry-out talking with a person behind the counter, and then on a cell phone. The man then leaves the store without carring a bag.

The date of the video is the same day of the killing, July 26, but it’s not clear if it was taken before or after Darryl Eugene Street Sr. of Southeast was found unconscious shortly after 10 p.m. in the 3800 block of Minnesota Ave. NE.

Paramedics had initially responded for a report of an intoxicated man, but doctors at a hospital notified police when they discovered Sweet had been hit in the head with a blunt object. Police said Sweet died on July 27 and his death was ruled a homicide.

Anyone who recognizes the man in the video is asked to call police at 202-727-9099 or text the department’s tip line at 50411.

This item was updated after D.C. police changed the web address of the video.
