Police search for gunmen in two shootings

A man was shot once in each leg and in his hand Tuesday night in Southeast Washington, according to D.C. police, who are still searching for the shooter.

Police said the attack occurred about 10:10 p.m. in the back of a house on the southern edge of Fort Stanton Park, near Suitland Parkway and Alabama Avenue.

Officer Araz Alali said the adult male victim was being treated at a hospital, and that police were searching for three men wearing ski masks and black clothing in the incident.

Police in Northwest Washington are also looking for a gunman who on Tuesday morning demanded money from a man outside a homeless shelter, and then shot him in the hand, Alali said.

Police said the shooting occurred about 10:15 a.m. at 3rd and D streets NW, two blocks from the Judiciary Square Metro and near D.C. police headquarters and the court complexes.

A security official the shelter, located on 2nd Street, said the victim was not associated with shelter.
