Pr. George’s police seek robber

Police in Prince George’s County arrested one man who is accused of robbing a Giant grocery store in Suitland early Monday morning and they are searching for a second suspect, authorities said Tuesday.

Two men entered the store in the 5500 block of Silver Hill Road just before 5 a.m. Monday and forced those inside into the safe room at gunpoint, authorities said. There they made employees open up the safe and fled with cash, authorities said.

An employee inside the store called police, authorities said, and officers arrested one man as he exited the store. Police identified the suspect as 24-year-old Brandon Newman, of Greenbelt.

Police said a second suspect fled. He was last seen wearing a red baseball hat, reddish wig, white and black scarf mask, black jacket, purple “Giant” polo shirt, black pants, black shoes and white latex gloves, authorities said. It is not clear if he was a Giant employee.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Robbery Unit at (301) 772-4905.
