Pr. William student charged with pointing BB gun at Vaughn Elementary schoolmate

An 11-year-old in Prince William County was charged with brandishing a weapon during an after-school tussle outside a Woodbridge school last week, according to police.

About 4 p.m. Friday, an 11-year old pointed a BB gun at a 9-year-old student outside Vaughn Elementary School. No shots were fired or injuries reported. The boy was charged with brandishing a weapon on school property and assault and battery.

School had been dismissed for the day, police said.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Paul B. Ebert (D) said typically such cases are resolved by courts directing the young child toward social or mental health services.
