Remains found in Anne Arundel belonged to missing 20-year-old woman, police say

Jessica Lynn Lee had last been seen May 8 at a Shoppers Food Warehouse on Ritchie Highway near her home in Brooklyn Park. Anne Arundel County police said Lee had been killed with blows to her upper body and that her death has been ruled a homicide.

The remains were found Aug. 6 near the 8100 block of Ritchie Highway.when a man walking by Ollie’s Bargain Outlet found a skull. Police searched the area with cadaver dogs and found additional remains in some woods.

At the time, Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy said the remains did not “appear to be matching up with any of our missing persons.”

On Friday, Mulcahy said that the intial investigation did not seem to indicate that the remains belonged to Lee. As the investigation progressed, they determined otherwise.

Police have not said whether they know of any suspects in the case.
