A “person of interest” is being questioned by police in the shooting death of an Old Dominion University student, the office of U.S. Rep. Elijah E. Cummings (D-Md.), the student’s uncle, said Thursday night.

Christopher S. Cummings, 20, was a junior at ODU when he was shot and killed June 10 in what was apparently a random attack at his home near the university’s Norfolk campus.

His roommate, a fellow student, was seriously wounded in the same incident.

At the time of the shooting, police said they had no motive and no suspect in the case.

Cummings, a Northern Virginia native, hailed from the Woodbridge area and graduated from Forest Park High School. He was studying criminal justice at ODU.
