Reported suicide investigated as homicide, Anne Arundel police say

A death initially reported as a suicide is now being investigated as a homicide, Anne Arundel County police said.

On Tuesday, police responded to a home in the 100 block of Pine Cove Avenue in Severn for a report of an attempted suicide.

When they arrived, officers found a man on the floor suffering from injuries described as “trauma to the upper torso.”

The victim, identified as 45-year-old Jerome Vorden Wood, was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he later died.

After gathering evidence at the scene and conducting witness interviews, detectives determined that Woods’s injuries were not self-inflicted and said they are pursuing the incident as a homicide case.

According to police, a suspect has been identified and interviewed, but charges have not yet been filed. Police said that Wood and the suspect knew each other, but no details on their relationship were provided.

Anyone with information can call 410-222-3453 or 410-222-8610. The investigation is ongoing.
