Rockville man dead in single-car crash

A Rockville man is dead after the sports car he was driving left the road Saturday evening.

Pablo Alejandro Fontana, 31, was traveling southeast on East Gude Drive approaching Norbeck Road in Rockville when the 2004 Dodge Viper he was driving struck a light pole, overturned and then struck a tree, Montgomery County police said.

Police responded at 7:48 p.m.; Fontana died early Sunday morning at Suburban Hospital.

It is unclear whether Fontana, of the 800 block of Bowie Road, was wearing a seat belt. Police said it appears the crash was not alcohol-related.

Police ask witnesses to contact the Montgomery police collision reconstruction unit at 301-840-2435.
