Second man wanted in Seat Pleasant shooting

Police in Prince George’s County are searching for a second suspect in connection with a fatal shooting outside a Seat Pleasant gas station earlier this month, authorities said Monday.

Joshua Jermaine Benton, 23, of D.C., is wanted in connection with the slaying of 31-year-old Sharod Darnell James, who was fatally shot Nov. 16 outside the Lowest Price gas station in the 5600 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Highway in Seat Pleasant.

Investigators have obtained a warrant charging Benton with first-degree murder, a police spokesman said.

In a blog post, police said Benton has a twin brother who is not believed to be connected to the case.

Upper Marlboro, in connection with the slaying and charged him with second-degree murder. They did not specify a motive in the slaying.

Benton has a distinctive tattoo on his right forearm, police said.
