Several injured, traffic snarled by three-vehicle accident in Northeast Washington

Several people were hospitalized after a three-vehicle collision involving a shuttle bus and an overturned car in Northeast Washington, police said Friday morning.

The crash happened about 7 a.m. in the 1200 block of Michigan Avenue at 13th Street NE.

Four people were taken to an area hospital; police said none of the injuries appeared to be serious.

The shuttle bus is leaking gas near the crash site, police said. A hazmat team is taking care of the leak.

The 1200 block of Michigan Avenue remains closed due to the ongoing cleanup and crash investigation. Traffic delays in the area are expected to linger for some time.
