Shooting on 7th Street NW in D.C.

A man was shot and seriously wounded on a Shaw street Wednesday, forcing authorities to shut 7th Street NW during the evening commute, D.C. police said.
The shooting happened in the 1500 of 7th Street, near Bread for the City and just a block north of the Kennedy Recreation Center, about 5 p.m. Officers found a wounded man and he was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not believed to be life threatening.
Police shut down the 1500 block of 7th Street, a north-south commuter artery, as they investigated.
