Six protesters arrested in Hart Senate Office Building

Six protesters were arrested in the Hart Senate Office Building Tuesday, U.S. Capitol Police reported.

The protesters, who were carrying banners, were arrested shortly after 11:30 a.m. at the office building, located at C and E Streets in Northeast D.C.

According to a statement from spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, they have been charged with unlawful conduct — demonstrating in a Capitol Building and are currently being processed at USCP headquarters on D Street NE.

It is unclear whether the protesters are associated with the Occupy DC demonstrators, who have been camping out in growing numbers at Freedom Plaza. If they are, these would be the first arrests made in connection with the Occupy DC protest.
