6th woman fondled in Springfield

The 25-year-old woman was walking on Cumberland Drive near Dinwiddie Street around 7:30 p.m. sometime between Sept. 9 and 13, when the man approached her from behind, police said.

The suspect grabbed her and then groped her, before fleeing, police said. The woman was not injured.

The victim described the man as white and between 5’6” and 5’8”. She said he was wearing blue plants and a white t-shirt at the time of the attack.

The woman came forward as detectives were conducting a neighborhood canvass on Oct. 4, following the other attacks in the area, police said.

Police believe a single man may be responsible for all of the attacks. The suspect has been described as wearing a red baseball cap in many of the incidents. Other victims have described the man as Hispanic or Asian.

The most recent attack occurred on Oct. 2.
