An adult son has been arrested in the slaying of his 75-year-old father, who was found fatally shot at his Springfield home on Tuesday, said Officer Bud Walker, a Fairfax County police spokesman.
Police and U.S. Marshals arrested Richard Hanson, 53, in Scranton, Pa. shortly after midnight, Walker said. Hanson had been charged in Fairfax County with the killing of Gary P. Hanson, a retiree who lived with his wife, Richard Hanson and another son.
Walker said Fairfax County detectives are currently questioning Hanson in Scranton. It is unclear why Hanson traveled to Pennsylvania, Walker said.
