Suspect arrested after armed robbery in Metro garage

One suspect is in custody and a second is still at large after an attempted armed robbery was reported in the College Park Metro station’s parking garage. Police found the suspect now in custody standing on the station’s platform and arrested him after a brief scuffle.

At about 1:15 p.m., Metro police received a report of the incident, which an unnamed victim told officers took place in one of the garage’s stairwells, according to Metro spokesperson Caroline Lukas. Although one of the assailants claimed to be armed, no property was actually taken from the victim.

At about 2:15 p.m., Metro police arrested one suspect after a brief struggle on the College Park station platform when, according to Lukas, others waiting on the platform noticed he was carrying a gun. This weapon turned out to be a BB gun.

Besides the suspect in custody, a second remained at large. Lukas said Friday afternoon that MTPD’s investigation of the incident was ongoing.
