Teen shot Wednesday afternoon in Northeast D.C.

A teenaged male was shot and wounded Wednesday afternoon in Northeast Washington, D.C. police said.

The victim approached a resident for help near 17th Street and Constitution Avenue just before 3:30 and said he had been shot, said Officer Paul Metcalf, a spokesman. The resident called police who responded to the scene.

The victim’s age and condition were not immediately clear. Police were investigating where the shooting took place.

Police were looking for a heavyset black male standing about 5 ft. 6 in. tall, with twists in his hair and all black clothing, in the area of 18th and D streets NE after the shooting, officials said.
