A 15-year-old boy will be charged with murder in the stabbing death of a 92-year-old Forestville woman who lived on the same street, Prince George’s police said.
William Roger Fitts, 15, was a neighbor of Thelma Steele, who was found dead Monday night in her house in the 2900 block of East Avenue, police said. Her granddaughter said police told her that the house had been ransacked.
Detectives were speaking with the youth Wednesday. A police spokesman said the teenager admitted some involvement in the crime, and that a knife and some of Steele’s property were found in his home.
Steele, whose husband died years ago, had worked for many years as a secretary at a bank in the District, but was long retired, her granddaughter said.
More details will be added as they become available.
