Teens struck by car in Severna Park

Authorities say two teenagers have been struck by a car while crossing a highway in Severna Park.

Fire Battalion Chief Steve Thompson says a 17-year-old female and an 18-year-old male were hit in the 100 block of Ritchie Highway about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday. Thompson says the teens were taken by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

He says the girl suffered life-threatening injuries and the boy suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Thompson says a carnival was taking place near the incident.

The striking vehicle remained at the scene.
