Adorned with images of Purple Hearts, a soldier’s purple Harley was to be a unique rolling tribute to those who have been wounded or killed in the nation’s service. But a thief has put those plans on hold.
Fairfax County police said the hog was stolen from a parking garage in the 5500 block of Seminary Road in the Alexandria part of the county on Thursday. A thief hopped on the bike and rode it away shortly after 2 p.m.
The U.S. Army soldier who was planning to create the decorative
memorial was “devastated by the theft,” police said. According to detectives, Harley Davidson motorcycles are rarely stolen in Fairfax County.
Police said they believe local residents may have heard the thief pull away because the motorcycle has a loud exhaust system.
