Three more women have told police they may be victims of a man who has attacked young women and teenage girls at Fairfax County shopping malls.
The attacker, who authorities said may have targeted nine women since February, comes up behind his victims and uses a box cutter or razor to slash at their buttocks, Fairfax County police said. None of the women suffered serious injuries.
Two of the newly reported incidents occurred in Fair Oaks Mall in Fairfax in February, and the third occurred on March 11 in the H&M store of Tysons Corner Center in McLean, according to authorities.
Fairfax police spokeswoman Lucy Caldwell said the three women who recently came forward said they initially believed a hanger or clothes had simply brushed by them. Police did not release additional details about the newly reported incidents.
The man is described as Hispanic, about 5-foot-6 and heavy-set, police said. He is thought to be in his late 20s.
