Update, 9:45 p.m.: The child has been pronounced dead, according to Prince George’s police.
A 2-year-old child was shot in the head and critically wounded Monday night in Prince George’s County, police said.
Police said the boy was taken to a hospital after the shooting, which occurred about 8 p.m. in the Oxon Hill/Glassmanor area.
The shooting may have been accidental, said Cpl. Henry Tippet, a police spokesman. He said preliminary information indicated that the boy may have found a gun in his apartment.
The matter was still under investigation Monday night.
