Trial for father, sons in fatal Md. beating

WESTMINSTER, Md. — A Hagerstown man and his two sons will stand trial together for the fatal beating of a Frederick County man at a Carroll County tavern.

The Carroll County Times reports that 53-year-old John Robey, 21-year-old Jonathan Robey and 23-year-old Thomas Robey have been scheduled for a five-day trial starting Dec. 10. All are charged with second-degree murder, manslaughter and first- and second-degree assault.

They are accused of killing 26-year-old Craig Myers of Rocky Ridge at the Crossroads Inn in Keymar in August 2011.

A fourth defendant, 48-year-old Michael Grimes of Woodsboro, will be tried separately. He is charged with manslaughter, second-degree assault and conspiracy to commit second-degree assault.

Myers died from spinal and head injuries.
