Trial to start Monday for Prince George’s County police officers accused of beating student

Two police officers accused of beating an unarmed University of Maryland student after a basketball game in 2010 are expected to go on trial Monday morning.

Reginald Baker and James Harrison, both Prince George’s County police officers, allegedly assaulted John McKenna during a celebration at the College Park campus in March, 2010.

Hundreds of students were celebrating the U-Md. men’s basketball team’s victory over rival Duke University.

A total of four Prince George’s County police officers were suspended in connection with the attack, which was captured on video by another student.

Baker and Harrison were indicted last year after an FBI investigation and are scheduled to go on trial in Prince George’s County Circuit Court on Monday.
