Two Arlington teenagers charged with shooting at cars

Two Arlington teenagers were arrested in connection with shootings last year aimed at cars in the Newington Forest and Terra Grande neighborhoods of Fairfax County, according to the county police.

Herbert Reyes Cartagena, 18, and Alexander Chase, 19, were arrested and charged with destruction of property and shooting a missile at an occupied dwelling and an occupied vehicle, according to police.

The suspects were linked to an air-rifle shooting into a home and into an occupied vehicle last November.

Police released a video of the suspects’ car, a silver Honda CRV, and made the arrests after receiving tips.

“Without the public’s help, these cases can be tough to solve,” said Captain Joe Hill, Commander of the West Springfield Police District, in a statement. “But people took the time to read, watch the video, and call us and it made a huge difference.”

The investigation is ongoing and there are more than 30 victims of these crimes, according to police.
