Two dead after separate Fairfax County car accidents

A 54-year-old man and 71-year old woman died in separate car accidents in Fairfax County on Thursday.

The first collision happened around 1 p.m. Police said they responded to a crash involving two women and two children on Ox Road, near Zion Drive.

Fairfax resident Margaret Brigidini, 71, was attempting to turn from Ox Road onto Zion Drive when her vehicle collided with a Lexus traveling northbound on Ox Road.

Brigidini, of the 10800 block of Stanhope Place, was not wearing a seat belt, police said. She died at the scene.

The driver of the Lexus and her two passengers, a 7-year-old boy and 6-year-old girl, were transported to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

The second accident, about 6 p.m., left one man dead and two others injured near the intersection of Braddock and Shirley Gate roads, according to police.

Fifty-four-year-old Christopher Cobb was driving eastbound on Braddock Road when he crossed the median and drove into oncoming traffic.

Cobb’s vehicle struck a Toyota Highlander driving westbound on Braddock Road, propelling the Highlander into the path of another vehicle.

Cobb, of 4100 Addison Road, died at the scene of the accident, police said. The driver of the Toyota was airlifted to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other driver involved was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
