Two-store Capitol Hemp raid nets seizures, seven arrests

D.C. Police raided both Capitol Hemp store locations Wednesday evening, arresting seven people on drug possession charges, authorities said.

The store, which sells clothing and other items made of hemp, has locations in Adams Morgan and Chinatown.

Officers executed a search warrant at the Chinatown store in the 500 block of H St. NW shortly before 7 p.m. for drug paraphenalia and marijuana possession, said Officer Araz Alali, a department spokesman. They seized paraphernalia and nearly $2,600, making three arrests, Alali said.

A test for THC, a chemical found in marijuana, came up positive at the scene, Alali said.

Officers executed a search warrant for marijuana possession in the 1800 block of Adams Mill Road NW at the same time, Alali said, arresteing four store employees.

At that location, officers seized evidence described by police as “numerous smoking devices,” “water pipes,” “grinders,” “packages of empty zips,” and various drugs in containers.

Police also charged the suspects with possession with intent to distribute drug paraphenalia based on what they said was the large amount of items they discovered. The items found there also tested positive for THC, police said.

The names of the suspects were not listed in the public police report.
