Two teens arrested in Northwest D.C. shooting

D.C. police arrested two teens Wednesday morning in the fatal shooting of a 19-year-old.

At about 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, police found Osman Al-Akbar of Northwest Washington in the 2600 block of University Place NW with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Shortly after the shooting, officers in the neighborhood stopped two suspects in connection with the shooting.

Homicide detectives investigated the case, arresting Rashid Caviness-Bey, 19, of Northwest and a 15-year old male from Capitol Heights, charging them with first-degree felony murder while armed and carrying a pistol without a license.

Additionally, police made an arrest Tuesday in the homicide of Ronald Johnson, 24, from last year.

Johnson was found fatally shot on October 25 at 11:34 p.m. in the 900 block of Westminster Street NW. Police arrested Anthony Donnell Peoples of Northeast and charged him with second-degree murder while armed.
