Two women approached on way to Suitland Metro, one sexually assaulted

Two females were approached at gunpoint — and one of them was sexually assaulted — while walking to the Suitland Metro station in recent weeks, authorities said.

Both incidents occurred in the 4700 block of Silver Hill Road, and police are exploring whether they are connected, authorities said. In the first case, which occurred about 5:30 a.m. Sept. 27, police said a man with a handgun grabbed the victim’s arm, led her across the street to the rear of an abandoned building and sexually assaulted her.

In the second case, which occurred about 6:45 a.m. Oct. 4, police said a man with a gun tried to pull a female across the street but she struggled and got away.

Police said the suspect in both cases was described as a 5’5 or 5’6 black man with a dark brown complexion. He had a close haircut, light facial hair and was 25 to 30 years old, police said.

In the first case, the man was wearing a black jacket, a black and white striped shirt and acid washed blue jeans with faded brown patches on the front, police said. In the second case, the man was wearing a black jacket and black pants, police said.
