Two women attacked in D.C. in what police say could be related crimes

Two women walking between Dupont and Logan circles were separately attacked on the same street within an hour Tuesday night and D.C. police said they are investigating the incidents as related.

Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman, said a robbery occurred about 7:35 p.m. and an attempted robbery occurred about 8:21 p.m., both along the 1500 block of Q St., NW.

Alali said that in the first case, four men approached a woman from behind. He said one punched her in the face and stole her iPhone and lap top computer.

Less than an hour later, Alali said another woman in the same block was attacked by a man who came up behind her, punched her in the face and tried to take her iPhone. Alali said he ran away before he could grab it.

“It is possible that these cases are related due to the location and manner of the robberies,” Alali said.
