A man who had murder charges dropped against him after he was arrested in a 2009 slaying was arrested again in Loudoun County last month in connection with the same case, authorities said Thursday.
Carl Lester Glen, 22, was arrested on March 28 as he was leaving his home in Ashburn, Va., authorities said. Police have a warrant charging him with first-degree murder in the Dec. 4, 2009, slaying of 30-year-old Alexis Pena Cuevas, said Capt. Steve Yuen, a Prince George’s County police spokesman.
Yuen said investigators had charged Glen with Cuevas’s slaying — a drug-related shooting in the 6400 block of Inlet Street in the New Carrollton area — in December of 2009, but those charges were later dropped. He said investigators recently uncovered new information that helped them bring the charges again.
Yuen said he did not know why the charges were dropped in the first place or what information was uncovered to bring the new charges.
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Glen is being on a fugitive warrant and is awaiting extradition to Prince George’s.
