Va. remains those of woman missing since 2004

A DNA sample from a relative has confirmed that skeletal remains located last year in Prince William County are those of Linda Mae Archer, 58, who went missing from Woodbridge in October 2004 .

The match was made in March by the Virginia State Lab, Prince William County police announced Thursday. An investigation into Archer’s death is continuing.

She was reported missing by family in January of 2005 after not being seen for several months, police said. A missing person report was filed but police found no evidence of foul play or reason to classify her disappearance as suspicious, police said Thursday.

Last June, police received a call about bones being found in an area of Minnieville Road at the intersection with Prince William Parkway. Those remains were confirmed as Archer’s.

Archer lived in the 3600 block of Elm Farm Road in Woodbridge at the time she went missing.
