A woman was groped Monday evening in the Springfield area of Fairfax County in what police think is the 10th sexual assault committed by the same attacker.
The victim did not suffer serious physical injury in the latest incident, which occurred about 6 p.m. in the 7200 block of Commerce Street. At least one previous incident occurred there.
Investigators are confident that the same man was involved in all the incidents. Although it was not possible to be certain, it appears likely, said Officer Eddy Azcarate, a police spokesman.
The account of Monday’s incident was similar to that of the others reported since late summer: A man approached from behind, grabbed the victim, touched her inappropriately and fled when she turned around.
The incidents have occurred since late summer.
