Video: Package thief caught on video in Ellicott City

Police are looking for a woman who was caught on video stealing a package from a front porch in Howard County.

The woman was seen carrying away a package from the house in the 8200 block of Weston Drive in Ellicott City on Friday about 11:20 a.m. — less than two hours after it was delivered, police said.

Surveillance videos released by police show a blue two-door-vehicle pull into the driveway and a dark-haired white woman get out of the car, pick up the package and put it in the trunk before driving away, police said.

Authorities describe the woman as weighing approximately 180 pounds and wearing a headband, dark hooded sweatshirt with a white emblem on the chest, jeans and gray shoes. She may have worn a ponytail, police said.

Police believe there may have been other victims and are asking residents to review holiday purchases and shipments to determine if any packages are missing.

Anyone with information about the thief is asked to call 410-313-STOP. Callers may remain anonymous.

Police have warned people about package theft during the holidays, asking them to report incidents to the authorities.
