Vienna police investigate infant death

Vienna police are investigating what they call the “suspicious death” of an 11-month old boy who was unresponsive when a caregiver brought him to his mother in Reston on Wednesday morning.

Police spokesman Bill Murray said the child was in the care of an individual at a home on Lakewood Drive in Vienna who returned him to his mother at about 11 a.m. Wednesday.

The child was unresponsive and was taken to Reston Hospital Center by paramedics and then to Children’s National Medical Center where he died Thursday night, Murray said.

Murray said police are not releasing the boy’s name until detectives speak further with his mother.
