Winchester man dies in I-70 crash east of Frederick

A Winchester, Va., man died after his vehicle crashed and overturned on Interstate 70 east of Frederick early Tuesday morning.

Maryland State Police responded to the scene of the crash, on the westbound side of I-70 west of Quinn Road, around 1:45 a.m. They found Edward William Nest III, 36, who was partially ejected from his 2011 Infiniti G37X. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Most westbound lanes of I-70 remained closed for two hours after police arrived at the scene.

A preliminary investigation showed Nest’s vehicle had left the roadway for an unknown reason. The vehicle then traveled up an embankment, struck several trees and overturned. Nest was partially ejected from the vehicle because he had not been wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash, police said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash should call Trooper Fairbanks at 301-600-4151.
