Authorities have arrested a woman who allegedly used three children in a scheme to rob an elderly woman of several thousand dollars in Langley Park two weeks ago, according to the Prince George’s County Police.
The suspect, Linda McCorkle, 48, allegedly approached the 84-year-old victim in parking lot of Murry’s Steaks on New Hampshire Avenue on Jan. 12.
The woman had two young boys and an infant with her when she asked the 84-year-old to help her cash a check, police said.
The 84-year-old agreed to drive the woman down the street to the Bank of America, police said. The children stayed with another woman, and McCorkle threatened to shoot the 84-year-old if she did not withdraw several thousand dollars and hand it over.
Prince George’s County police say the U.S. Marshals Service arrested McCorkle in Harlem on Thursday in connection with the incident.
Surveillance from the Bank of America and a Crime Solvers tip helped lead to her arrest for armed robbery and second-degree assault, authorities said.
