Woman fatally shot in Dumfries

Prince William County police are investigating what appears to be the area’s second homicide this week after a woman was found shot to death in Dumfries early Thursday morning.

Police said they found an adult female dead with gunshot wounds to the upper body in the 17600 block of Washington Street after officers responded to a call around 3:30 a.m.

Officer Jonathan Perok, a police department spokesman, said he was unable to release more information early Thursday.

Police said they have also arrested two men — whose names have not yet been released — in the slaying of a man who was discovered lying in the street in the 15000 block of Cardin Place in Woodbridge around 11 p.m. Tuesday. Witnesses said that two men pulled up in a minivan and left the victim in the street before fleeing, police said. They said they are waiting for the medical examiner to identify the man and that an autopsy was being performed to determine cause of death.
