The Charles County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 52-year-old woman whose body was found near the shoreline of the Port Tobacco River in Bel Alton.
Investigators from the sheriff’s office and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources found Barbara Ann Wood on Thursday after receiving a report of a body in the river.
There were no obvious signs of trauma or foul play, but the investigation into the death continues pending an autopsy, authorities said.
