Woman hit by police car on Wisconsin Avenue

A woman was struck by an unmarked police vehicle and seriously injured Wednesday night on Wisconsin Avenue just north of Georgetown, D.C. police said.

The accident happened in the 2100 block of Wisconsin Avenue about 9:15 p.m., said Officer Paul Metcalf, a spokesman. The woman, who was not identified by police, was found unconscious but breathing, he said. She was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.

A preliminary police report said a police vehicle was involved, Metcalf said, but no further details could be confirmed.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
