Woman robbed, sexually assaulted in Southeast Washington early Tuesday morning

D.C. police are looking for a suspect in connection with a robbery and sexual assault in Southeast Washington early Tuesday morning.

The victim, a woman, was walking in the 4800 block of Benning Road about 2:10 a.m. when she was approached by a man with a handgun, police said.

Police said the man forced her into an alley on E Street SE, where he robbed and sexually assaulted the woman.

Investigators described the suspect as a black man in his 20s, 5’10” to 5’11” tall, with short hair, a beard and a mustache. He was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.
