Woman struck, killed on Route 28 in Loudoun

A woman attempting to cross Route 28 in the early Sunday morning darkness was struck and killed, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

The woman, who police have not yet identified, was hit at about 3:30 a.m. in the area of Routes 28 and 267, authorities said. The vehicles involved remained at the scene, authorities said.

Members of the Sheriff's Office crash reconstruction unit were investigating Sunday, and officials warned that motorists should expect delays in the area.
